About The Lecturer
Javier Bastidas is a seasoned San Francisco divorce and family law attorney with nearly two decades of experience representing clients in complex dissolution, custody, paternity, and support matters. As a Senior Associate at Leland, Parachini, Steinberg, Matzger & Melnick, LLP, he led the Intellectual Property Division, contributed to the Business Transactions and Litigation Teams, and chaired the firm’s Diversity Committee during a major acquisition. Previously, Javier served as Supervising Attorney for the Justice & Diversity Center’s Sargent Shriver Project, where he managed legal teams and represented parents in high-conflict custody battles, and he has acted as Attorney-of-the-Day for San Francisco’s Domestic Violence Calendar, assisting low-income families with urgent legal needs. His background also includes providing litigation support in high-asset divorce cases, managing corporate affairs for a tech company, and forging partnerships with major organizations. Javier holds a J.D. from Tulane Law School, where he earned a European Legal Certificate, and a B.A. with honors in History and Film Studies from Dartmouth College. He currently serves as Board Member and Treasurer for the Foundation for Judicial Education, reflecting his ongoing commitment to legal excellence and community service
